P2P crypto exchanges with no KYC

Peer-to-peer exchanges match a buyer and a seller who settle between themselves, by bank transfer, cash, or another payment method. The platform provides an order book and an escrow so neither side can walk away with both the coins and the money.

The best P2P exchanges are non-custodial: escrow is a multisignature address or a Lightning hold invoice, not an account the operator controls. There is no company in the middle that could freeze your funds or ask for documents. The trade-off is that you deal with a real counterparty, your bank sees the fiat leg, and software bugs in the escrow protocol are a real risk, as the incident records on this page show.

Policy change Hodl Hodl

Announced screening of all incoming bitcoin, described as "security scoring"

The directory kycnot.me records that on 18 September 2026 Hodl Hodl announced on X that it would check every bitcoin sent to its escrow system. According to that record the platform described the measure as security scoring and denied that it is an AML process, while some users reported being placed in what the service privately called an AML review. The platform's FAQ, read during this review, still describes trades as taking place without KYC or AML.

Questions

P2P Exchanges: common questions

What replaced LocalBitcoins and LocalMonero?

Both closed. Non-custodial platforms took over most of their volume: Bisq, RoboSats, Peach and Hodl Hodl for Bitcoin, and Haveno-based networks for Monero. See the alternatives pages for a side-by-side view.

Is P2P trading private?

The platform may know nothing about you, but your trading partner sees your payment details and your bank sees the transfer. Cash-by-mail and cash-in-person trades reveal the least.
