A proxy routes your traffic through another server, so the site you visit sees the proxy’s address and not yours. People use them for testing how sites look from other countries, for research and for separating work from personal browsing.
A proxy is not a privacy tool in the way Tor or an audited VPN is: the provider sees your traffic, and unencrypted traffic is readable by it. What can be compared is what the provider asks from you, what it logs, how it sources its addresses and what its terms forbid.
7 proxies usable without mandatory ID are listed and graded here. 0 have terms that rule out identity checks entirely, while 2 reserve the right to ask for ID after a risk flag. The highest Safety grade belongs to Anonymous Proxies (7.1/10). 0 accept Monero and 0 publish a Tor onion address.
