Anonymous domain registration

Registering a domain normally puts your name, address and phone number in a registry record. Privacy-focused registrars avoid that in two ways: some register the domain in their own name and give you full control by contract, others accept minimal contact data and pay-by-crypto.

The first model gives the strongest privacy but means the registrar is the legal owner, so its track record matters. Each listing explains which model applies.

Questions

Domains: common questions

Who owns a domain registered through a privacy registrar?

With proxy-style registrars the registrar is the registrant of record and you hold usage rights by agreement. With conventional registrars you are the registrant and WHOIS privacy masks your details.
