What RoboSats is

RoboSats is an open-source peer-to-peer exchange for trading bitcoin against national currencies, reached through Tor Browser. The quick-start guide says a user needs only a Lightning wallet and a Tor-enabled browser; identities are disposable robot avatars generated from a token, with no account data. Trades settle over the Lightning Network using hold invoices for the bond and escrow, which the documentation says minimises custody and trust requirements. Orders are hosted by independent coordinators in a federation.

Outage

Project website reported down from 11 June to 5 July 2026

The public event log of the directory kycnot.me recorded that the RoboSats site was down between 11 June and 5 July 2026. RoboSats is operated as a federation of independent coordinators reached mainly through Tor, so an outage of the project website does not necessarily mean that trading through coordinators stopped. The cause of the outage was not stated in the material reviewed. The documentation site was reachable in October 2026.
